About andien
A long time avid reader of SciFi-Fantasy and Historical lit, with a particular interest in Childrens/YA in these genres, I have a first degree in history and classics and a second in computer science; I work in the software and technology field. As well as reading, I have played board and scifi-fantasy role playing games since my early teens and have also trained in the martial arts since pretty much the same period. My "desert island" books would include Julius Caesar's "The Civil War", Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings", and Tim Powers' "Earthquake Weather", and if I could go on the web while on my island I would be reading "Order of the Stick", "Girl Genius Online" and "Bad Astronomy". And if the kids were along I would definitely be taking Terry Pratchett, Rosemary Sutcliff (anything really from these two authors)and Susan Cooper's "The Dark Is Rising" series. In terms of reviews, which I hope to do, I will try to consider: plot, character development, pace, continuity, language, authenticity, and originality--as well as anything else that strikes me as noteworthy about the book.
