Basics:
23 years old, female, very opinionated (anti-war/Bush, pro-gay marriage, libertarian in most views, etc., etc., blah, blah)
Interests:
Reading, writing, and various art-related things.
Would love to be a writer someday, so any comments on my writing are greatly welcomed and appreciated
Favorite Bands:
U2 / the Finn brothers and all associated with them (solo stuff, Crowded House, Split Enz, etc.) / Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers / Oingo Boingo / Franz Ferdinand / the Feeling / Muse
And of course classics like the Beatles and the Stones, just to name a couple. I also enjoy Squeeze and the Alarm as well.
Epinions Thoughts:
Basically, people who can explain why they feel the way they do about a band or a movie or a book or whatever in a clear and logical way, who always make their reviews entertaining and interesting and unique, get my trust. Doesn't matter if I agree or not with their views, if they meet the above criteria, they have my attention.
I'll focus mostly on music reviews, but will write about books and movies on occasion, too. Been adding a "Recommended 5" thing to my reviews this year. I don't go by track order, I rank them by favorites-1 is obviously my top pick, and then so on down. Occasionally there'll be a tie, though, if the album's got too many good songs for me to choose from.
Yes, you'll see a lot of 4/5 star ratings from me. With so much whining about how there's no good music around anymore, I want to try and prove just the opposite. Doesn't automatically mean the album's a classic or anything ('cause I'm horrible at picking out what will and won't be popular), just mainly that it's a good one worth checking out. But trust me, if I don't like something, I will definitely make it clear (and that goes for my favorite artists, too, should they do something that just doesn't grab me).
Plans:
Continue on with college and work stuff, and on here, hoping to at some point do a series of reviews on Split Enz albums. Also intend on writing more reviews here as often as possible.
