Almost a year spent away from this place... It was in wait of CDs to be sent from The Sentimentalist, who accepted me as a reviewer in September...then didn't send anything out until May. (Incidentally, you may well find me in the June issue doing 100-word reviews under the name LL Hager.)
This hiatus is based upon an excuse I made in order to stop writing in general. My life ground to a halt in September '03 upon my decision to move out of my parents' house, and all the many disasters, tragedies and broken friendships that followed in the wake of said decision. "I don't want to spoil the talent" became "I'll just wait for the CDs to come." And then the CDs came, I wrote the five hardest reviews of my life (and you'll notice the new ones are far shorter than my old, as my last experiences were 100-word entries, as opposed to four-page opuses), trying to be concise without missing the important points.
So I'm out of practice, but with the upcoming release of the first all-new Cure in four years (since Bloodflowers, 2000, was their last new-material LP) on my four year anniversary with my fiance. You can't imagine how ecstatic and thrilled I am, or how obsessed with The Cure I am at this point in my life.
I had to get a few words in before really cracking my knuckles on the big project. Just wait, my pretties, for June 29th... It may actually be written early morning June 30, but I am going to dig in and enjoy. Oh, the bliss...
