Consider me a careful consumer and a rabid researcher. I have lived in northern New Jersey, northwestern PA, Colorado, Albany NY, and now in Pittsburgh PA. While I'm finishing a degree program here, my finances have been severely restricted, so I've taken to thoroughly researching all my purchases before I commit hard earned funds, or before I commit a portion of my interest bearing student loan funds.
Travel experiences: I've been to 47 states (not Alabama, Mississippi or Hawaii), 6 Canadian Provinces, several countries in central America (Panama, Bermuda, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica) and several European countries (Austria, Hungary, Switzerland, France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, England). Camping in Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Oregon, Washington, BC, Alberta, Kansas, Missouri, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, PA Virginia, New York, Vermont, .... The list goes on. I did not camp in Florida, because I'm afraid of the critters.
Swimming with Dolphins, snorkeling for shells, climbing Mayan ruins, panning for gold, watching the sun rise over the Panama Canal, watching the sun set from the Matterhorn, drinking New Wine and eating onion pie (strange combination but it is marvelous), swimming in Lake Constance, walking on the paths made by Lewis and Clark, drinking coffee at the oldest coffee shop in Vienna (in the shadow of St Stephen's Cathedral), standing in Pest, and watching the sun shine on Buda. Lots of great experiences.
Being a "listmaker" I plan to write some reviews on the following topics:
the top 10 books about Central Europe at the end of the Ancien Regime (this would cover roughly the years 1750-1850). These are:
Mark Urban, Wellington's Rifles
Christopher Hibbert, The Wheatley Journal and Waterloo, Napoleon's Last Campaign
TCW Blanning, The French Revolutionary Wars 1792-1802
David Gates, The Napoleonic Wars 1803-1815
William Simpson and Martin Jones, Europe 1783-1914
10 places to see/things to do in Pittsburgh.
Starting with:
The Children's Museum
The Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Garden
Top 10 movies about the Napoleonic Wars
