About bbarner
My opinions are written from the perspective of someone who seeks scenery and solitude in remote natural surroundings. I prefer explore parts of this country that few people ever see or hear about. My outdoor pursuits include backcountry backpacking, hiking, skiing, sailing, gardening, mountain biking, and canoeing. I love to write about my experiences in National Parks and other outdoor destinations, especially some of the lower profile places found in my native Midwest. One of my goals is to experience every US National Park over my lifetime (5 down, many to go). I also have a wandering foot, having lived in places like Budapest, Boston and Paris before settling in Chicago. My travels have taken me to exotic places such as Costa Rica, Hawaii, Turkey, Spain, Morocco, Poland, and southern Missouri. I live and work in Chicago as a free lance business consultant and business writer. Being self-employed offers many benefits and presents many challenges, but it is a good fit with my desire to explore and experience the variety that life has to offer. My education includes Northwestern University and the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. I am recently married (to a fantastic woman) and hope someday to raise a family of outdoor-lovers.
