In early July, of 2006, my wife and I had our first child, a baby girl. At this point life changed. There have been many sleepless nights but it is worth it. Besides our human child we have a cat named Böo-Boo. He is a very good cat. He loves attention and much of the time he acts like a dog. He is the cat in the picture.

How I rate products and other’s reviews:

When I do reviews it is on something I have either used or owned. I try to be fair when I write and when I review. I believe if I never used something then I have no right to write about it. I will always try to be fair and thorough when writing about something. Also, if you are kind enough to read and rate a review of mine, I’ll return the favor. I believe that it is the right thing to do since you took the time to read my review. I am not perfect at doing this but I try hard to do it.

When reading and reviewing others reviews, I will be honest with those as well. In a sense, the way I grade will be fair. I give good ratings on how helpful I feel a review is. If I find one that is less than “Helpful”, I may leave a comment stating why. Since there are so many reviews and so little time. I may not always do so. Forgive me if I don't leave a comment. If I don't, you are free to email me and ask why. I will be happy to give advice on how to improve the review.

Below is the breakdown of my ratings:

Very Helpful: The review contains great detail of the product including price, function, durability, personal feelings about the product.

Helpful: The review has helpful information but is lacking critical information.

Somewhat Helpful: The review has only some useful information.

Not Helpful: There is not useful information in the review.

Off topic: I think this one is obvious.

No rating left: Either I didn’t see your review, it is so bad that I didn’t bother to rate it. What do I mean by bad? I mean that the review is so difficult to read (one huge paragraph with the lines ending just about everywhere) that I just can’t continue reading. If that happens I am annoyed. If I am annoyed I am not going to finish reading.

Some other reasons are:
I have noticed that the review has been rated less than helpful by others. If so, I won’t bother with it.
If your review is nothing but a gripe or an advertisement for something, forgetaboutit, I am not leaving a rating.

My Web of Trust

The only people on Epinions that I will automatically trust are family members. I’ll be fair; if I think their review stinks I will rate it accordingly. As far as everyone else; trust has to be earned. I will only add you to my trust list after reading a lot of your reviews. Your reviews have to be very helpful for me to trust you.

I will not trust some one just because they trust me. I expect the same in return. Don't be a "trust slut." Add me to your trust because you trust my opinions (with ratings) or you really like my reviews. Make me earn your trust as I must earn yours. Only add me if I qualify for your WOT list. Last words on the subject: If you are a "trust slut" I will add you to one of my list, my blocked list.
