Well, now that I have managed to depress you with my deep thoughts, I would like to personally welcome you to my Profile Page.
Yes, I am Javascript Challenged but trying to learn so hopefully a fancier profile page will come soon. :-)
I have been with Epinions less than a year but love it out here.
I was referred to this site by a friend of mine and have been addicted ever since.
I have not written a ton of reviews here due to the hours of my job, ( and an out of date computer that decides it will communicate when IT FEELS LIKE IT! ), but I am still able from work to read and rate alot of reviews and love every minute of it.
I notice that alot of people all have different ways to rate the reviews they read. Many are very good at breaking down how they rate and make that known right away. Yes, I am interested in what everyones views are as well, but I need to be honest when I say that I do not break it down.
I have many reasons for why I give out the ratings I do, and when I break it down, it still doesn't seem to be saying enough so I will try to narrow it down for you a bit.
Highly Recommended
To recieve this rating from me it is because:
You put time and effort into your review. You were informative on the product or service you wrote about, and you added personal experience into it as well.
You did not write a 2000 word paragraph with no spaces, and in many cases, ( when apporpriate ), incorporated a sense of humor into it with your own little thoughts.
There are many subjects that a sense of humor would not be appropriate in, but when writing on products you like or don't like, I find that a bit of humor will always help to keep someone reading.
Recommended
This I give out when, once again, time and thought went into the review.
This is still a very good rating from me. If I you have recieved one of these from me, be rest assured, I did enjoy what you wrote.
I may have felt that there could have been just a little more information on the product or service in hand, but all in all, it was still informative.
Somewhat Recommended
These go out to people for may different reasons, and in no way ever go out because someone gave one of my reviews that same rating.
You will recieve this rating mostly to help you. I have never given an SR without an explaination, so please, if you see this rating from me, and jump off the deep end right away, take a moment to check in your comments. I will always tell you why and never be mean or rude about it.
Not Recommended
Ahhhhhhhh, the ever so dreaded rating of them all! How we hate to see these on our opinions.
"How dare someone rate my opinion with this. I worked my butt off and this is what I get???? Hmmmm.... I'll show you!!!!"
Well, by all means, Show Me! This rating gets used when I read a review contains no substance at all. You know the ones:
"This car is sooooo kewl! Buy it! I guarentee you'll get alot of chics!
or:
"I like, totally bought (insert band name here ) __________'s cd and it totally sucked! Don't buy it.
How many brain cells had to be in use for those kind of reviews.
You will also recieve this rating if the subject is posted in the wrong place.
You will also recieve this if I don't feel that you knew what you were writing about. Every single minute, of every single day, we experience so many things, and use so many products, how can one choose to write about something they know nothing about.
Take the time to write what you know and do it well. That's why people come to this site. To read what you are saying about the things they want to try or buy. Your the one that helps them decide.
I have to be honest when I say that there are alot more elements to the way I rate, but I wanted to give you a bit of a breakdown as some of the reasons I have given out the ratings I have.
WEB OF TRUST
The title says it all. Trust is the key word here and the reason why I choose the people I have on my WOT is not because they trusted me first or because some of them are very big writers on the site.
The people in my WOT are there because I feel that what they have to say is very important and I believe in them and what they have to say.
Some can make you laugh, and others cry, but they can all give you a higher understanding of the products and services they write about.
For all that have placed me on their WOT, I am not only thankful, but I continue to learn from you as well.
Don't be discouraged if you have not been added to mine yet. I take time out to get to know that person and the way they write and how they inform.
You will see my name on your opinions and I, most of the time will leave you comments and will return to see if they have been responded too.
This is how I get to know you and trust you, so be patient and don't take it personal if you are not on my WOT yet. Like any good relationship, it takes time to get to know each other.
One more thing. I would like you all to know that I do not believe in REVENGE RATING.
In other words, if you feel that something I have written deserves and SR or NR rating, I will not hunt you down and do the same to every review of yours accessable to me.
Not only do I not believe in that, but I do not have time to participate in such a childish, ego game. In fact, I find that I end up clicking on a lot of NR rated reviews, for the simple fact that I'm curious as to why.
I have literally seen NR opinions with more hits than HR's. Go figure.
All I ask, out of respect is if I do recieve a lower rating, show yourself and please take the time to leave a nice comment as to why.
In my earlier reviews as a new member, I learned alot from these because people always left helpful suggestions which I used.
I hope I was able to fill you in a little on what I'm about. Thank you all for taking the time to visit and I really do look forward to reading and rating your reviews.
As serious as I sound, I do have a sense of humor. I had to in order to be able to write about my experience at Burger King. Check it out, you'll see what I mean, and no this is not a shamless ploy to get hits on it, although...... hmmmmm... just kidding.
