I originally hail from Salt Lake City, Utah (motto: “With the greatest snow on earth and some mild corruption you too can host the Olympics.”), but have also recently resided in Washington, DC (motto: “Come and enjoy our unique, uh, educational opportunities for young female interns.”); the Dominican Republic (motto: “Who needs electricity and running water when you’ve got dominoes and the bachata?”);and Tucson, Arizona (motto: "Cacti and Rocks R Us").
I am a graduate student in Public Administration and Policy and I would like to be a bureaucrat or a lobbyist when I grow up--that should make my parents proud. Up 'til now, my varied resume includes such occupations as rollercoaster operator, press staffer for a Senator, caretaker for persons with disabilities, latino youth group facilitator, english tutor, and other equally random tasks. These experiences have caused me to be very interested in many things and very knowledgeable about very few.
While I like dogs, I am more a cat person than a dog person. Dogs are too universally friendly to everyone; when a cat likes you, you can feel like you have accomplished something. I love to eat but not to cook and I enjoy all ethnic foods except for Indian foods (but just let me add, for the benefit of all you readers of Indian descent, that I think India is a splendid nation even though I haven't yet learned to appreciate the cuisine).
