Writer (The Glass Cocoon), Poet(Red-House-Tavern-Tales),
I published a poem when I was 12 years old in a national magazine and have had some success the last 35 years in publishing articles, poems, short stories and a novel called The Glass Cocoon.
My latest book is a 76 minute spoken word CD called Radio Pictures; Aural Anxieties, a C.D. I made with Pulitzer and Grammy Nominated Poet Michael C. Ford. 2009.
Writing can be addicting, frustrating and most people will never make enough as a writer to support themselves. I look for others to write with authenticity from the belly and from the heart. Every other aspect of writing can be learned with time, some study and practice, practice, practice.
Epinions is far from perfect and if you become too concerned with how some play games, the cliques, how some bend the rules in plain sight and others are chastised for it-- it will suck energy from you until you seethe with anger and hate and insiste there's a conspiracy and everyone is against you. Just laugh at it all, keep writing what you enjoy writing and you'll discover many good things about this place and the people who regularly contribute. Some good people have been chased away unfortunately....
Challenge yourself to writer better than you did yesterday.
