About ChrisJarmick

Writer/Poet (The Glass Cocoon-mystery, Poet: 2010 book: Ignition: Poem Starters, Septolets, Statements & Double Dog Dares. A unique, humorous and poignant collection including 160 very short poems, some Septolet form poems, a longer experimental piece that incorporates a poem-essay by award winning poet Marvin Bell; plus a challenge to write your own Poem Starter and Septolet with assigned prompts. Hope you'll check it out and consider getting a copy. My earlier poetry projects include Red-House-Tavern-Tales;& Poems for the Working Class,

Also have a poem included in wonderful anthology of 42 Northwest Poets called Many Trails to the Summit from Rose Alley Press.

I continue to be quite active in the Northwest Poetry Scene hosting and curating two monthly readings (Seattle and Kirkland, Wa.) and occasional festivals (Auburn Good Old Days August-2011 ; Seattle Bookfest --October 2011; Burning Word May-2011; etc)

I have had some success publishing articles, poems, short stories in a variety of newspapers, magazines, literary journals and online too.

In 2009 a friend of mine produced a 76 minute spoken word CD called Radio Pictures; Aural Anxieties, featuring Pulitzer and Grammy Nominated Poet Michael C. Ford, reading poems with me.

Writing should be its own reward. Most writers do not make enough to support themselves through writing. Write what you want, how you want, to please yourself and perhaps imagine one other person in the room that you are writing for (a loved one, a relative). Write with authenticity from the belly and from the heart. Those who are interested in improving their communication skills and developing a distinct writing voice get my respect and admiration. Most aspects of writing can be learned with time, some study and practice, practice, practice. Writing is a discipline. Sometimes it is joyous.

Epinions is far from a perfect online community and has been through several awkward changes in the past ten years. The technical issues are also frustrating at times but some very good writers have contributed here and some continue to do so. There are people who are fair and honest and people who are not. Some bend rules and get away with it, others never do. Getting caught up in any of the game playing will probably leave you frustrated and suck up some of your valuable time and energy. Don't assume the worst, but don't spend a lot of your time assuming. Better to write, write and write some more.

Challenge yourself to write better than you did yesterday.

Keep writing.
