About ChuckV

Hello, my name is Chuck and I am a Staffing Manager for a large corporate machine who’s products you probably own. I am originally from Pittsburgh but now reside on America’s 3rd Coast, also know as Michigan. I have a beautiful soulmate named Kimberly who happens to be the most creative, honest, sincere, good hearted, interesting woman I could ever dream to spend my days with. Eventually we plan to launch our own business, become rich, retire very early and devote our lives to spoiling our kids and pursuing life long dreams that take place outside of a cubicle and do not involve fluorescent lighting.
In the meantime we enjoy spending our days together hiking, camping, fishing, homebrewing, cooking, making crafts, playing disc golf, traveling, mountain biking and of course sampling the fine beers of the world.
What I love about beer is the never ending variety that is out there and how much the beers differ. For example, an American Pacific Northwest Pale Ale is going to be totally different from an English Pale Ale. Each region and company lends it’s own characteristics to the beer style making no 2 alike. Over the years I have managed to log journal entries for around 400 different beers, some of which I will be sharing in the Food and Drink section. I consider myself somewhat of an expert on the subject, however, my ratings are purely subjective. What might be a masterpiece to me, may be trash to you. While I can say that I have never met a beer that I truly did not like, I do have some general preferences. I like big, hoppy, complex beers and my favorite styles tend to be Barleywines, Porters, Stouts, Pale Ale, and India Pale Ale. I appreciate all styles, but these are the ones that I drink most frequently. Anyway, I hope you enjoy reading my opinions, but more importantly I hope that they inspire you to search out and drink great beers. Cheers!
