About eleven years ago I dropped out of school to take a year off to work and save up some money. After landing a good job with a large roofing company, I never went back to school. In May of 2000 I took a two week vacation to Yosemite National Park. Being the avid climber that I am, I decided to stay for the summer. Planning on returning to work that fall, I played on the rocks to my hearts content, gradually developing a deep connection with the park. About three weeks before I was to return to work in Utah, I met Nic Fiore. Nic was an old ski legend, who is credited with helping to form the Professional Ski Instructors Association of America. We started talking and after agreeing that Alta was the best ski resort, he hired me on the spot to teach skiing/snowboarding for him at Badger Pass (the ski resort in Yosemite National Park). Once again, I planned on only staying for the winter and planned to return to Utah once the ski season ended. At Badger Pass I befriended a manager of one of the back-country camps, he offered me a job working at his camp. Figuring that I would just check it out for the summer, I accepted.
Well, I loved the back-country so much that I ended up hiring on with the crew that erects and disassembles them every spring and fall. While working this job, I met a life-guard, Amber, who I eventually persuaded to marry me. We had a beautiful little girl, Juniper, on April 6, 2005 at our home in Mariposa, CA.
Now that Jun, is getting closer to school age, Amber and I have decided to find a nice, quiet community to settle in. We believe we have found that here in Mayfield, Ut. Although it seems to be two hours from everywhere, we love the quiet rolling hills and the peace of mind that comes from country living.
