I love traveling and and I love restaurants and so now I am vacationless and broke. So these days I have to keep myself happy just reading and writing about both!
That said, I am a 32 year-old guy who lived in the San Francisco Bay Area (temporarily transplanted to Cincinnati, OH) and so most of my review concentrate on SF and its many wonderful aspects!
Tourists love flocking to the Fisherman's Wharf, but to get the true character of SF you must walk along its streets and mingle with the locals. A good spot to do so is at 16th & Valencia, where the historic and colorful Mission district comes to terms with the city's increasingly yuppie dot-com culture. The city's reputation as the capital of the Internet economy is very evident at another one of its cross-streets: 3rd & Howard in the trendy SOMA district, where you can shake your head at the strange paintings at the SF Museum of Modern Art or play in the high-tech Metreon.
Speaking of trendy, do you know which are the city's trendiest restaurants? You could try the quintessentially San Francisco-style Mecca, or eat the North Beach institution Enrico's, where the food's good, the wine's great, and the people watching? Priceless.
Shop 'till you drop at Union Square, and then unwind from the madness at the Compass Rose in the historic Westin St.Francis Hotel. Get out of downtown's madness and try one of the many ethnic restaurants and the joys of no parking and windchill in the outlying Richmond area. And while you're in the city known for its Chinatown, you can try the best Chinese food in the city here. When you're finally broke spending your money shopping and eating at trendy places, you will appreciate my list of
cheap eats.
Okay, so I love SF and the Bay Area. But I love exploring other cities too - and I have lived in some of them as well. So many places, and so little time!!
New Zealand, one of the greatest places for nature lovers,
Edinburgh, Scotland's friendly and atmospheric city with some really good pubs!
London, where the new and old world cultures try to coexist - and they do, and
Austin,TX , closer to home where I actually lived for a few years.
My take on Epinions.com
I think this is a site for everyday people to write their opinions on products - unfettered by commercial interests. While good English and lucid prose makes a review fun to read, I'd still rate an opinion highly if it's sincere and informative.
About my reviews:
My most read review. (Possibly because it has the word virgin in it.)
My least read review..
(Possibly because it has the word nerd in it.)
My top earner. (Possibly because it has the word sleazy in it.)
And now, without further ado ..., On with the show!
