I am a mother of 2, stepmother of 4 that lives in a little nowhere town about an hour outside of Philadelpia.
I was a teen in the 80's(the aqua net era) and I am simply obcessed with hair care and makeup products. I always want my hair and makeup to be perfect. Now while this may be a vice bred out of insecurity or vanity, however you see it, I like to consider it my hobby. I must have my hair soft and silky and I am very demanding of my hair products. My hair is long and since I do color it it 2-3 times a year my ends tend to be fragile and dry. Alas, I no longer have the big pouffy hair I had in the 80's and early 90's ( I didn't want to give it up.) But I still do like a little lift and volume in the crown so I use alot of hairspray - some habits you just can't break.I love makeup but I don't like to play with it. I want to put it on in the morning and not have to touch it until I take it off which is usually very late at night. While you might think it is impossible to have touch up free makeup I have found ways to accomplish this feat and I only spend 15 minutes applying my makeup in the morning.
I have tried just about every brand of shampoo and conditioner in the drugstore and the salon. Suave,Herbal essences, Thermasilk, Pantene, L'oreal, Renewal 5x, Finesse, Salon Selectives, Bilolage, Paul Mitchel,and Nexxus, just to name a few.
I have also tried just about every makeup brand ( except the cosmetic counters at the mall). L'oreal, Avon, MaryKay, Covergirl, Revlon, MaxFactor, Maybelline, etc. etc. and etc.
Within the last year I have started to research cosmetic ingredients especially when it pertains to shampoos and conditioners so I can make better buying choices and not have a dozen half used bottles of stuff in my shower. I am also a fan of Paula Begoun the "cosmetic cop" and feel she is pretty much right on the money. We have a big family and a small budget so I like to find the best for the least - Don't we all?
