Until 2000, I had been a singer and piano player in the Boston hotel and club circuit. It was my main profession for a very long time but then it became a means of putting myself through Social Work school (I have an MSW from Simmons College in Boston). I moved to Connecticut in late 2000 to live with my partner and to take a job I love: working as a bereavement coordinator in a nearby hospice program. There is nothing more fulfilling I can imagine doing...besides writing the occasional Epinion of course!
We live with our three cats, Dinky (who, ironically is a 22 pound black lovable blob, nothing "Dinky" about him), Dannie and Angie, and, in between sneezing and antihistamines, I adore them despite being cursed with an allergy to pet dander. On the side, I assist my partner with her Seaglass and Antique Glass wind chimes and jewelry business - cool stuff if you ever need a gift for someone who is hard to shop for. Visit our site and you can get a quick glimpse of her wares as well as this faceless writer (on the home page).
I have always enjoyed musical theater and movies, and have found that few of my friends share my affection for this. Thank God for Epinions!! Favorite shows of all time are Les Miz, Phantom, Evita, The Music Man, as well as more contemporary shows like Tommy and The Blue Man Group. Favorite movies (which are likely to change, depending on my mood) include Terms of Endearment, Broadcast News, Casino, (or anything with DeNiro in it), and Stuart Saves His Family (yes, it is a GEM despite the tacky title!).
I believe that good friends, friendly animals, a good job who happen to love doing and having pretty decent health make for a rather outstanding life. I highly recommend all of these things to everyone.
