All you need to know about my reviews

All I'm gonna review on this site is music, and I'll try to review as much new stuff as I can. I do listen to all genres and will try to touch upon all different kinds of material. Anyway, one of my reviews would typically be laid out like this:

1st paragraph (Intro): Just a simple overveiw of the album, when it came out, and some of the artist's history. The style and "mood" of the album is also described here, so if you want something mellow you'd be able to tell here.

2nd paragraph (Pros): I elaborate on all the pros and strengths I listed of a CD here. Every album has it's good points and if you value these heavily then it could be a purchase. I'd also point out anything that doesn't fit into those "15 words or less".

3rd paragraph (Cons): No matter awesome an album is claimed to be, there's always cons. I never say "none" because there's always something that can be improved on an album. If these things matter a lot, it can sway a purchase.

Tracklist: Here I list every track in order, and assign credit to each one from 1-5. The way I'd score an individual track is simply how much it contributes to the album, from 1-5 - meaning this shouldn't be taken as a percentage. Just cause something gets a 2 does NOT mean it's bad - just how much effort was put into that song. For example length plays a big role, so it could be the best 40 seconds you've ever heard; it won't get rated very high. 3's are just regular ordinary songs, 1's being skimpy and 5's being exceptional.

Growth Factor: This is one thing I think is very important in getting a CD. Growth factor (best name I could think of) is basically how much an album grows on you over time, a low rating meaning you get into it the first time you hear it, and a high rating meaning it takes a long time to grow on you before you like it. For example poppy CDs generally have low ratings, while ambient/experimental works have high ones. Discography Ratings: Pretty self-explanatory, usually when I get into an artist I get into the entire discography, so readers can use past albums as references in comparison to the one they are reading.

That's pretty much it! I don't have a lot of reviews but if I ever get to writing here, at least you'll know how it goes.
