Quick Background
My childhood memories include having an Apple II+ with a 300 baud modem. Since then, I've always enjoyed electronics, computers, and evolving technology. I know what I like and what I don't like and am not afraid to give my opinion -- and I will tell it like it is. Don't be surprised to see a single STAR being handed out. If I don't think a product is good or worthwhile, I'm going to be honest about it.
I'm a big fan of Consumer Reports and am elated to find something like Epinions on the web.
How I evaluate
As above, I'm going to tell it like it is. I'm not into writing 10 page books like some reviews. I am in the medical field and part of my life is getting the most salient facts and making decisions and moving on. Same thing here. Sometimes I find that too much text, just bogs down the review and I skip most of it.
I'll always give THE BASICS, POSITIVES, NEGATIVES, then MY OVERVIEW with miscellaneous ramblings.
What I look for in reviews
I look to see if an epinion/product/thing is logically presented, easy to understand, gives extra information (YOUR OPINION) rather than information I can simply look up on the web by doing a search for that item! A rehash of text that can be found elsewhere is useless. I want to know how the item helps you in your life, how it makes your life easier, more productive, more enjoyable, etc.
Items Reviewed
You can catch these on the profile page. If I give something 5 stars, I really think it's worth it.

The Bottom Line:
I'm using Epinions.com to GIVE and RECEIVE honest opinions so I am happy with my decisions in buying something. I don't care about making any money. I hope my comments help you just as yours help me in making a decision whether or not to purchase a product!
Thanks!
