About demosthenes
|
I am middle-aged, have green eyes and live with my dog. By day, I work part time at the desk in the local library. When the moon rises, I play the part of a freelance journalist. While I have yet to discover the cure for cancer or the secret of life, I work the hours I set, travel when I please, and have plenty of time left over to write.
The path to my present position was circuitous indeed. A degree in English and History from a distinguished liberal arts college led to a job in broadcast journalism. After remembering that I enjoyed writing as much as television, I changed jobs to work for a local newspaper. Early on, a lucky break moved me from political stories to technology coverage. I was just in time for the Internet explosion. As a result, I now know more about bits and bytes, bandwidth and breadboards than I ever thought possible. I've since taken a break to begin writing freelance.
My passions now manage to take up a large portion of my time. Other than writing, I enjoy reading, traveling, cooking, dancing, music, and red wine. My reading is not limited to a single genre. In fact, I find myself reading just about everything. My past travels took me to several sites around the globe. More recently, I've explored several areas in the United States. I have studies various dance styles, and can sometimes be found instructing Swing. I play the piano, but find myself listening more than playing lately. I think the red wine speaks for itself.
On a final note, I am obscenely organized. You may notice that quality in some of my epinions. Please bear with me. Hopefully, you will benefit from the results of my obsession.
Why demosthenes? Well, according to Perseus Encyclopedia, "his true greatness is his ability to write in any style and to vary his style both to suit the topic and to give variety and vigor to his speeches."
It's also happens to be the name of my dog.
