I am a video engineer by profession, but I have a wide range of interests.
I have a bachelors degree in Electronic Engineering Technology from a state accredited college. Starting in photography, I wanted to apply my degree to imaging, moving from photography to high-speed photography (10,000 fps) to high-speed videography and now work in a television studio.
I work at a university TV station that is cablecast. We purchase a lot of industrial grade video equipment that would be considered "Prosumer". Our equipment gets quite a workout by students and staff alike. I am going to try and produce more reviews on this category for those interested in the popular "Digital Film" world.
Because universities have lower budgets than broadcasters, I think I can provide in-site on equipment available to the amateurs, yet bring a professional level of expectation to my reviews. I might be a little critical for the average user.
Some of my reviews are of slightly older equipment. Though new technology is fun, I would rather have an older technology that is well developed than a new one that is so full of bugs, making it not useful. So you might find some of my reviews antiquated. Fortunately, many newer models are variations of older ones and the older reviews can be applied in many ways.
As I stated earlier, I have broad interests. I produce many audio and video productions and some short films. I study theology, philosophy and apologetics (logical reasoning that God exists). Though I hate them, computers are a necessary tool in the world today (especially in video), so I learn as much as I can about them and use them for most of my work. I also work on my cars and houses, so I use a lot of mechanical and power tools. Some might call me a tool junky as I own more tools than I should. But I use them regularly and they save me money so I guess that justifies the expense.
