About Steph's WOT: If you've added me to your WOT, thanks! I really appreciate your support. Don't be offended if you've added me and I haven't added you yet - I like to read as many reviews as I can from people to get a sense of their style before I add them to my WOT. This does take some time, though, since I'm also reviewing and rating reviews, as well as doing my own website and writing for our local alternative weekly paper, such as it is.
About Steph's Ratings: To me, a VH review gives a precise explanation/overview of the work, the reviewer's response to the work, and a logical argument defending that response. For example, if it's a book review, there should be a fairly detailed plot summary, a discussion of the author's techniques and style (and whether they succeeded), the reviewer's response to the book, and why the reviewer responded as they did. I do deduct for bad grammar and spelling, because I think it's only fair for a reviewer to publish grammatical prose. If you don't take the time to read your work carefully, why should I? For any rating below Helpful (and usually for Helpful ratings as well), I will leave a comment explaining my rating. In any case, it's never a personal attack on the reviewer or punishment for the reviewer's rating. If you have questions, or have modified a review and would like me to reconsider my rating, drop me an email.
