I've been writing freelance since I was 15. Along the way my articles have appeared in magazines, newspapers (I was a staff writer for Jefferson Publishing, Scripps-Howard Newspapers, The Kentucky Business Ledger, and The Commonwealth-Journal, among others), websites and radio.
In college I was managing editor of my college newspaper (while being a stringer for The National News Bureau, a stringer for seven suburban weekly newspapers in Louisville, and also as a stringer for daily newspapers as well). That photo of me on this page is from 1978 while I was in college.
I won numerous awards in college and professionally in journalism (including a First Place Award for editorial writing from The Chicago Tribune and a first place award for a college editorial endorsement that is now in the Gerald Ford Presidential Museum). A special edition I was the main writer/photographer on for Scripps-Howard Newspapers won a First Place Award from the Kentucky Press Association.
I've been a member of The Society Of Professional Journalists, Sigma Delta Chi, The U. S. Air Force Museum Association, and other not-so-controversial orgnizations.
I've been mentioned in the acknowledgement pages of a several books and several CD booklets by various artists. I even had a quarterly column in a Swedish pop music zine for a while in the '90s. The editor of Goldmine magazine even praised my Power Pop News website.
My Epinions reviews have been linked to a number of music sites, including the official sites of Bruce Springsteen, Ian Hunter, The Romantics, The Knack, Raspberries and Eric Carmen (co-wrote, with Bernie Hogya, the "Ultimate Eric Carmen Personnel List" for the official artist site).
In 2007, I was one of the official writers for the 30th Anniversary Of Eric Carmen's "Boats Against The Current" Official Blog (Bernie Hogya, Larry Canale and Eric Carmen himself were the other official contributors).
My favorite son, and only child, Eric, is my pride and joy. Nothing else matters more than my family.
