About donnamr
My professional life is a reflection of my personal interests. I enjoy teaching and mentoring, I love animals, and I have a keen interest in creative endeavors.

I'm a college professor at a community college, where I teach human communication, small group communication, and public speaking. I also own my own dog training business.

While these careers might seem unrelated, they are not. They involve teaching. What's most satisfying is experiencing the fruits of my advice and coaching - for example, watching that frightened student gain confidence speaking in front of a group; or having someone tell me that a communication technique brought positive results; or seeing a dog owner's elation when the dog's bad behavior changes to positive action.

I also teach courses in fiction writing, and write essays and children's fiction. I love reading, theatre, music, opera, and ballet, and regret that I don't have enough time to indulge myself more in those areas these days.

I always have a house full of cats and dogs, and consider them my good companions. They never hold a grudge, no matter how stupidly I act. Come to think of it, they never even tell me how stupidly I act. Talk about tolerance!
