Cocktails have always facinated me. Properly done, there is a certain sense of ritual involved with them. From knowing exactly what to order, to the bartender mixing them up, to even the atmosphere surrounding the enjoyment of a well turned drink, and the friends you are sharing this with.

I view cocktails as a form of fine cuisine. A properly made cocktail will have the balance and nuances you might find in a French sauce. And a great bartender should be viewed with the same respect and admoration as that offered to a Master Chef.
