I'm a typical geeky male--love computers, movies, games, and the Simpsons.

About elbarto69

Currently I'm 20 years old and attend a community college. I've seen between 300 and 500 movies in the past 10 years, and am a huge Simpsons fanatic (from toys to trivia). I lived on the southwest side of Chicago until 10, then moved to Naperville, a suburb 30 miles west of Chicago. People may think I rate many things highly, but often I do that because those are things I own. I use Epinions.com often, and do my research before making an expensive decision. If I find out the product I purchased met/exceeded my expectation, I come here to give a good review, hoping others will find it helpful and further inform them about my experience with the product. If I made a decision that ended up turning sour, I come here immediately to share my experience and do my best to warn others to stay away. I think Epinions is a superb site, and the people who review are honest. The only thing I have to say, though, and this goes for my reviews as well, is it's often you'll find two people reviewing the "same" product but giving two completely different opinions.
One such instance of this was when I researched the 2000 or 2001 Chevrolet Impala. The first review to come up was of a woman who complained her windows got stuck in the down position, it had trouble starting, and found countless other problems with the car. I bought a 2002 for myself and it drives like a dream (yes, it's reviewed on this site). There is always a chance someone might purchase a product that was just manufactured poorly. This happens once in a blue moon, and I think people should gauge their decisions more on how many people recommend the product (if the Impala was really a troublesome car, it wouldn't have gotten a 93% recommendation).
As you can probably tell by now, I like to tell stories when writing reviews. I think it adds more of a personal touch to my reviews, instead of merely explaining good and bad qualities of a product using lots of adjectives. Then again, we will have to see if that'll change if people stop finding my reviews helpful. ;)
