About elffy
I like building and upgrading computers and doing the needed research to find what will run 1) smoothly 2) continually and 3) cheaply. I bought a used IBM aptiva 2162-s9c and a FIC SD11/slot A 700 mhz Athlon, and rarely had problems with either of them...HOWEVER after taking each of them home only then did I discover that upgrading and/or usage was (for some) a nightmare! I guess I have been lucky, but I am also careful to not swap/alter those old beasts more than a little bit at a time, so that I can undo any problems. Putting a computer together/reviving it from a non-working state is fun, especially when you can breathe new life into them.
