About Epicac
I once heard that while we are given the illusion that we have many choices of what to spend our money on, no matter what the good or service, we only have one choice - buy it or don't. This bit of advice, sage or otherwise, sums up the way I feel about the products offered in modern consumer America. We have several flavors and colors to choose from, but in the end they are all inferior products that I choose mostly not to buy. For instance, this year I can choose from at least five luxury SUV models by Acura, BMW, Lexus, etc. but none offer improved gas mileage or progressive technologies such as an electric hybrid option. I can choose a model that handles better or one with more horsepower, but at the end of the day they are all energy wasting machines that all reside firmly within the same box. Another instance is at the store where the options for personal grooming products, shampoo, soap, conditioner, shaving foam, lotion, and everything else we put on our bodies are almost endless. No matter what the product promises to do, I can promise you that it has been tested on animals in all sorts of terrible ways just to make sure that the chemicals in it are not too harsh for our use. Energy efficiency, animal testing, labor conditions here and abroad, conscientious business practices, environmental awareness - these are all issues that directly affect our lives and should reflect what our society produces for ourselves and our children.
