I am 23 years old and I am a Senior at Boston University. I tend to spend most of my day studying, doing homework, playing videogames, or fixing computers. I took a little job on the side to make so extra cash. I fix computers for some family owned company. If anyone needs any type of advice on computer related devices or software or videogames, feel free to mail me.
Check Out My Opinions On Playstation 2, Dreamcast, and the Voodoo5 Graphics Card! I know you'll love them!
I Don't Uderstand:
I still don't undertand one thing, why people rate according to the size of the opinion. I belive people should read the opinion before they rate it. It's not how long the opinion is that makes it good but it's the context provided. I wish people around here would read my opinions before they rate them and I hope all you out there feel the same way too!
How I Rate:
I never rate anonymously, except for NR (reason below). Very briefly;
HR - Excellent review. When looking for reviews on a product, I will pick at least one HR with five stars, and one with only one or two. I will HR a review that I would be happy to read as one of those two. An HR'd review can stand alone, telling me all I need to know about the subject. It's also good if the review makes me laugh!
R - Good review. Lacks something that would make it a great review - usually length, or bad grammar / formatting.
SR - Flawed review, but the author has obviously tried. I aim to post a feedback comment on every SR rating I give, where I try to be constructive about what lets the review down.
NR - Fit for the bin. I only give these to reviews that are offensive, obvious 'jokes', cut-and-paste jobs, or are otherwise an obvious abuse of Epinions. I don't relish the thought of revenge tactics, so I always NR anonymously, and never post comments. If you tried to write an honest review, and I thought it stank, I will give it an SR and explain why.
I hardly ever rate editorial, because the articles are, by their nature, more subjective that a product Epinion can be. Occasionally I will give an HR to an exceptional article, and follow it up with a comment.
About Trust
I'm not here to condemn anyone; I'm here to write. And read and rate too. Whether I agree or not with the content of your article, whether or not the grammar could use a little correcting: these things are not my emphasis because I'm no one to set up a standard for anyone else, being too busy trying to pull the log out of my own eye.... If I must be a judge, and it looks as if here I must, I will rate using these criteria: sincerity; enthusiasm or belief in what's covered; thoroughness of research regarding products, and depth of thought in editorials. I love to laugh right along with what I read if it's funny. I've also cried with those who write of grief.
I thank you all; we're part of a site that can truly make a difference on many levels: our inside levels as well as those on the surface!
If you add me to your WOT:
I will look over your Epinions and see if there are any that interest me. You never know... I have a lot of varied tastes so I may read and rate more of Your Epinions than another individual.
If you meet the criteria I specified above, then I may add you to my WOT and will set up to receive e-mails when you post new Epinions. I will read and rate every one that you post.
I would ask that if you add me to your WOT, that you also set up to receive E-mails when I post new reviews, and that you too would read and rate all the new Epinions that I post. I don't expect you to read and rate all of my reviews that I have currently posted on my member profile. If you want to, go right ahead. That's your decision.
I know that this is a rather "wishy washy" way to set up my WOT, but I feel it is at face value the most honest. I'm not in it for the money. I'm in it to improve my writing skills and to give the rest of the world a better idea of what I do and don't like. (And a chance to vent some sarcasm every now and then.)
