I was born and raised in Corvallis, Oregon, and attended college at the University of Oregon in Eugene. I moved back to Corvallis when I started teaching in 1989. I earned my MS in education from Western Oregon University in 1995. In 1998, I moved from Corvallis to Astoria, Oregon, where I continue to teach. I will never leave the seventh grade.
My wife Ann and I fell in love when we were playing opposite each other in a musical. We live happily together with our cats.
