About firstcontact21

Take part in firstcontact21's DO YOU KNOW CANADA QUIZ Write Off... the first write-off ever hosted by me!

I'm Steve Lee. I love the art of storytelling as a medium for conveying ideas and heartfelt waves of emotion. Be it a feature film, a tv-show, a play, music, a piece of literature or any variety of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional artwork, all have the ability to tell involving stories with interesting characters caught up in interesting and compelling situations.

I'm currently attending Kwantlen University College where I'm currently close to finishing off an Associate of Arts Degree in Creative Writing (with concentrations in English and Political Science) and a Business Management Diploma. In 2002 I completed a Marketing Management Diploma at Kwantlen.

In 2006 I'm going to start working on film sets as a production assistant and start earning my days towards joining the Director's Guild of Canada. While I'm working in the industry I love, I'm going to finish a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing through Athabasca University, which offers all of its programs via online correspondence. I also plan on continuing to take whatever new 3rd and 4th year creative writing courses that Kwantlen offers over the next few years, so that I can put myself in line to obtain a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Creative Writing when that credential is finalized for offering in 2007.

You can get to know more about me by reading my All About Me!!!, 1994: When I was 17, WHICH WEATHER CAN YOU WEATHER?, My thoughts on writing utensils..., The Knowing Me, Knowing You Survey, On My Involvement in 2 Non-Profit Organizations, The Weight is Over: I'm going to look and feel great this year!, Bon-Appetite: My Entry in the Food-Lover's Write Off and Oh yeah - yo momma smack my pimp daddy (Steve's PORN NAME) write-off article entries.

You can also read More About Me at the bottom of this page, where I've posted some interesting results to questionnaires I did online.

Fianlly, yakkowarner has started a new website designed to track write-offs. He's lobbying Epinions.com to get a section devoted to people who want to post write-off challenges... in theory, it would be a section devoted to all the write-off challenges, a one stop place where people could go to find out everything they'd ever want to know about the latest write-offs. If you know of any write offs currently being hosted, contact yakkowarner by visiting his profile page.

What Pulp Fiction Character Are You? .

An Elvis man, you like you women dangerous and your steaks bloody. You often get wrapped up in landscapes and fail to realize the danger you put yourself into. Don't get cocky, and don't get caught. It might be good to lay off the drugs every once in a while. Just a suggestion.

Take the What Pulp Fiction Character Are You? quiz.

Below, I've listed here all of my current reviews, in an easy to use set of lists... Enjoy!

Finally, you can read the Goals I've set for the number of articles I want to post on Epinions in 2006. You can also check out some articles that others have posted that nicely follow my philosophy behind How I Rate Epinion Contributions. Comments on any of my reviews are always welcome --- Thanks and take care!

Goals for 2006...

This year, thanks to an e-mail sent out about goals he was setting for reviews in 2006 I thought I'd do the same.

First, here is a tally of how many articles I've written to date at Epinions, as well as the number of unfinished articles I've failed to complete during my time at Epinions, as broken down by year:
  • Finished in 2006: 17
  • Unfinished from 2006: 21

  • Finished in 2005: 1
  • Unfinished from 2005: 5

  • Finished in 2004: 1
  • Unfinished from 2004: 3

  • Finished in 2003: 11
  • Unfinished from 2003: 6

  • Finished in 2002: 50
  • Unfinished from 2002: 13

  • Finished in 2001: 74
  • Finished in Unfinished from 2001: 8

  • Finished 2000: 18
As such, I've decided to set the following goals for 2006, to write at least:
  • 8 - 12 specific product reviews per month; and
  • 8 - 10 creative writing article pieces per month.
The creative writing articles include either creative non-fiction, short story or poetry posts or the "all about me / getting to know me" type write-offs that I choose to participate in from time to time.

I also want to set the following time frame for finishing all my unfinished articles:
  • Finish 7 unfinished articles per month during the first 5 months of 2006.
In total my goals for 2006 would then be:
  • 96 - 144 reviews for 2006;
  • 96 - 120 creative writing articles for 2006; and
  • Finish the 35 Unfinished articles in 2006.
Or, a grand total of at least 227 to 299 Epinions posts in 2006. Wish me luck!

Rating Epinion Contributions...

What is Epinions? A good question. Part of the answer can be found in the Things to know about the Epinions Encyclopaedia and in the EpinionTalk: The Unofficial Epinions.com Dictionary both by mobiprof

Thanks to everyone who takes the time to read, rate and comment on reviews. Here are some interesting articles on how to rate reviews at Epinions, and they all include philosophies I try to follow when rating reviews at Epinions:
In the end, if someone has taken time to write an informative article, they will get a VERY HELPFUL from me.

If I rate a review as being HELPFUL, SOMEWHAT HELPFUL or NOT HELPFUL or OFF TOPIC, I'll often post a comment as to why I didn't rate it as being VERY HELPFUL, with recommendations on how a user can improve their rating.

Finally, I'm always willing to come back and re-rate reviews if someone does edit them in an effort to improve their contribution - all people have to do is send me an e-mail.

I use ptiemann's notification website.
