About frwhiskey
Irish by descent and inclination, our words are the swords with which we fight, die or pass the time at night online. Epinions was made for curmudgeons like me, better than religious chatrooms. Every event, book, movie, meal, product, or trip I enjoy I can now anticipate writing about. I love strong opinions and biased ranting in others. It's a rare, oddly stifled talent these days. Newspeak of Orwell here in USA chokes me. Travelling in Europe was my love in the 1980's. Now I roam closer to home, San Francisco, at the tourcompany's expense. Movies, especially foreign, and books, all types, enthrall and consume me. It's one reason my job suits me - it affords time to read, although not to websurf. German is my second language, with patchy French and Russian, a bit of Croatian and Finnish and Swedish. These latter snatches come in handy in dealing with foreign esteemed guests. Outside of Europe: 1 month in China; 4 months in Israel; 3 weeks in Egypt; 5 weeks in Turkey, 1 month in Japan, 5 weeks in Mexico. No expert, but enough to spout epinions. Dread of heat has crept into my bones and restricted some travel inclinations to any sizzling locations. Fog and wind suit me fine. My Irish body, white as a marshmallow, is asserting itself against California. Folkmusic from Europe, wartime swing, old cowboy songs and kazoo-playing is my musical scope. For eight years I performed in a local Yugoslavian folkgroup as a singer/dancer/partygoer.
