About ibpilgrim

I am a recently (2 years) retired math professor, having taught in high school, community college and university for 40 years. I live at the beach in the most southwesterly city in the continental US, just across the border from Mexico. I have four grown daughters and seven grandchildren, all living in the San Diego area.
My interests include teenage foreign student exchange, I am on the board of Directors for World Experience Teenage Foreign Student Exchange, and enjoy visiting the kids we have hosted through the years. All of the kids we hosted are in Europe and I now wish we had found a way to host more kids from South America and Asia, travel is so much more interesting when you have a personal relationship with someone in an area.
We have been homeowners most of our years in southern California and personal economics have dictated a DIY attitude about home maintenance and a careful consideration of major purchases. I am very disappointed at the quality of the current mid-priced appliances offered to consumers today, particularly what were once considered trusted names in consumer appliances.
