In iiDays opinion, the Review Ratings that each epinions members has checked:
is a **vote of yeah or neah(see below dotted line)

The ranking of a members product view is different than a rating. (ranking-what members review is shown first on a list of a products reviews?... timing and most voted~or~ rated, and possibly the most visited reviews; who knows? ...)

(...this is iidays biography, so, lets stick to that...in my opinion; that is to say the least, iiDays will break things down many ways...; who knows what way, one consumer or many, may be the reasoning, but its for that reason they are here; to find it, or to tell others, I may still be searching those things myself though I have written. )

So, Each review is scored on the basis of the combigned vote from each epinions member about the full review body, comments related to that review, and other possible reviewer's epinions activity.
Some members may add their comments, though sometimes "critical", or for some or what~ever~reason of interest/s, to a product review "Comments Area", even as a community compliment in general!

**VOTING - Voting is iidays description of epinions rating:{RATING}
RATING, Then:

For A review "not viewable" -"members only view" and an "adjust your settings to view", shows the opinions of what "other epinions members" average-vote is about each of those reviews.
We rate these reviews either "helpful or very helpful" if a review is in the member's opinion of:
being a publicly acceptable opinion...with epinions concepts in mind
... and is presented understandably(epinions concepts also); otherwise...

... otherwise, a "Somewhat Helpful" or "not helpful" vote may be given , a 'block-member' vote, or a rules violation issue; and of all that, -for whatever its worth~ thats why some reviews are not in a viewable "setting" for Non Members.
That setting is what boils down to a term used called "trust".
members "Web Of Trust" is different than "trust settings" Ssee trust in dictionary for that.
