About iloverocknroll

Not a gadget or electronics geek, but relatively competent with computers and I know how to set up the VCR. I just like things to work well without having to wave a magic wand. I can follow instructions and set up equipment, put together the entire home theater setup, but I don't care to have to second guess why something works one time then fails to work the next time. When I see a statement in the instruction manual that says - more or less - "If it fails to work correctly, unplug it then plug it in again each time you want to use it" - a big red flag goes up!! I see no reason for any stereo equipment to have such sensitive circuitry! I prefer that equipment manuals have a lot of details rather than be so simplified that they leave out important issues. I like having the "simplified setup guide" plus the in-detail manual. I have one VCR that is now 20 years old and still works great. Of course, it cost over $500 back then. (I also have 2 newer ones) I am dismayed by the flimsiness of new equipment and the fact that it really doesn't hold up for very long. Good thing the prices are so much lower compared to 20 years ago. I have a nice album collection that I want to put onto CD's so I will be researching for a good CD recorder - again!
