I love music. Music in all its forms is one of those attributes I consider unique to human beings. Yea, I know, whales sing, right, but they don't play violin or guitar. When I can hear one sing Nessun Dorma from Turandot, then I will be impressed.
Any who, I guess I will concentrate on music if that is OK with the community. I tend to write lengthy reviews and attempt to impart my own personality into it as this, I believe, will give readers a greater appreciation for how it has affected me. I will try to describe the music less by direct comparison, especially not as a criticism of, but buy directing the reader to similar sounding elements found and heard in other recordings. This way if you do not like a particular group, you will mot equate it with music I am reviewing and form a preconceived notion.
One might inquire as to how I might be effective as a music reviewer. Well, perhaps this may help. My entire family has been musically inclined to the extent they have either played a musical instrument or just plain love to listen to quality recordings. I grew up with a decent Hi-Fi in our house as a centerpiece of entertainment. My mother was a Music and Arts High school graduate who earned a full scholarship to The Julliard School in Manhattan where she studied pan and voice. Had it not been for marriage and children, she may very well have gone on to be a musician of some notoriety. But back in the 50's, women would frequently forego career for family. "It is a mans place to provide." Hooey!
I taught myself guitar but will be the first to admit I am only weakly competent at it. I twiddle with piano but have no formal training beyond a few yrs of lesions I hardly enjoyed. However, I did perform in a few different bands and musical acts throughout my 50 years and am pleased with the fact I have written a few rather decent songs if I say so myself. These days I seem to have a penchant for digital photography something I got from my father who had his own B&W and color lab at home in our basement.
So beyond my quest here on epinions, I am married now 22 years, have two children both out of the house with one on his own and one in University in her senior term. She is going to receive her BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts)degree and work in the business as best she can. Since she is graduating from a highly accredited conservatory, we have complete trust in her ability to do just that. We are not looking for her to be a "Star", just a hard working member of the entertainment community. We think she has the personality and dedication to persevere. Yes, we have told her this, over and over. It has become a kind of quiet prayer for us if you get my drift!
Hopefully I will find material to review that has been less listened to mostly because it is not mainstream and has gone unrecognized as substantive by the corrupted radio playing bribe mongers. I am pretty sure radio is going the way of the VHS. Internet sites like lastfm and cheap d/l sites will replace listening constraints of mass radio which I do not listen to any further. I have yet to explore satellite radio but I will look into it.
Thats it for now. I hope to expand on this as time progresses; maybe someone can share with me how to pimp my sites me page?
