Old stuff: More often than not, I can spot plagiarism VERY easily! If you steal someone else's work, you will receive an NR, a comment with a link to the original author's review, and most likely the others who've given you Very Helpfuls, Helpfuls, or Somewhat Helpfuls will receive notice about the violation! Plagiarists take up most of the space on my distrust list. The rest on that list are other abusers of the Epinions system.
I know this sets me up for retaliation through ratings or other accusations. That's just one of the many ways people will abuse a good system for honest people, but I will say one thing--call me a jerk all you want for snitching on you, but don't go stealing someone's work then retaliate against me because of what I found out about what you did. What you did in the first place was WRONG.
That said, the way I rate opinions is based on my guidelines. I was the Arts and Entertainment Editor of my college paper and was a real tough boss--I had strict guidelines for my reviews, and if you didn't heed them, your review was cut or thrown back to you to be re-written. It was actually very easy working for college media.
Personal Junk:
Personal Interests: Graphic design and photography, writing (everything from poetry to
screenplays. The poetry's been published, the screenplays haven't been. Yet...,) reading, watching TV and movies, collecting toys. Not necessarily in that order, but close.
Other Interests: football, baseball, cooking, weight lifting.
Most proud of my interest in: graphic design. People say I'm pretty good at it, too.
Most embarrassing interest: I'm not ashamed of anything, just ask.
Other Favorites: TV Show(s): The X-Files, ALIAS. Food: Thai and Italian. Sports Teams: Dallas Cowboys and NY Mets. Writers: Allen Ginsberg, George Orwell, William Faulkner, James Joyce, Kevin Smith. Toys: Hot Wheels, Pretty Building Blocks.
