Feel free to use these handy dandy drop down menus to find my other reviews - there's more about me on down the page!
I'm a happy stay at home mom to an eight year old daughter, a four year old daughter and a 11 month old miniature schnauzer. My older daughter is in the 3rd grade and is very excited about that. She's busy with Odyssey of the Mind, Brownies, swimming, ice skating and religious school. My younger daughter is also very busy between preschool, ballet, tumbling and swimming.
In my non-existent spare time, I used to like to go ice dancing! Back when I took lessons, I was working on my pre-silver dances which are the Fourteenstep, Foxtrot and European Waltz. I'm was a member of both the Washington Figure Skating Club and the Ice Club of Washington and I hope to get back into the sport one day soon.
I like music. I play a bunch of different instruments. My first one was the French horn. I used to play the clarinet very well - well enough for people to pay me to play and well enough to put me through college. I did not and do not currently play well enough to support myself, so it's a good thing I don't have to. Take that however you want. I can not sing. I have the range of a toad. I hear the notes perfectly in my head and I'm always disappointed by what I hear coming out of my mouth. I am in envy of those who can sing. Yes, I have taken lessons. I'm seriously considering joining a local community concert band as I've always enjoyed wind ensembles to orchestras but it would mean practicing up and resigning from one of the county advisory committees that has meetings on the same nights as rehearsals.
Another thing I like to do is follow the University of Louisville basketball team. Both my dad and my brother were basketball managers at the University of Louisville. I wasn't a manager but I did tutor a few of the players with Academic Athletic Advising and I was part of the UofL Pep Band. Let's go CARDS!
When I'm not cheering for the Cards, I'm a big-time Pittsburgh Pirates fan. I love love love the Pirates, even though they haven't had a winning season in forever. If you're ever in Pittsburgh during the season, do try to catch a game at the new ballpark because it's a fun experience, even if you're not a baseball fan. We also love the Steelers in our household and it's not jumping on the bandwagon either. I've followed the Steelers from back when they were pretty lousy after they were incredibly good. It's much more fun when the team is winning their division (and the Super Bowl), I will admit. I like Mike Tomlin and can't wait to see how he continues to develop as a coach. My favorite player is Daniel Sepulveda - the ROBO-Punter. Here we go Steelers!
As for travel, I can't get enough of it and I'm looking forward to our kids getting a bit older so we can really have fun going places! Our next trip is a long road trip between Virginia and Arizona. We're planning to stop off and see all kinds of interesting places across the country, driving two different routes eastbound and westbound. It's always a good day when you're on vacation and on the road!
