About JDinPA
|
I am married to my best friend and we have
two children, Michael, 16, and Daniel, 13.
I talk about my family frequently in my epinions.
My husband is a "Bronx boy" and I grew up
in a one-stoplight beach town on the Gulf coast
of Florida--somehow the combination clicked, and
it is still clicking away!
We live in a 34 year old log cabin stuck
back in the woods. Our driveway comes back about
1000 feet and stops - we typically park about 150
feet away from the cabin. In the summer we can
drive around through the trees if need be, but in
the winter we have to sled the groceries from the
car to the cabin. Right now it is easy living in the
woods! (except for all the mowing, weed eating, brush hogging, rock moving, and other typical country
yard tasks - lol)
Our cabin hangs out above our spring fed pond
that's stocked with trout and bass to go along with
all the catfish and turtles; The beaver, wild ducks, and
all sorts of woodsy critters make it their home as well.
More than a handful of times I have stepped out to
leave and found my self facing one of our local bears
just sitting there on either the front or back deck.
One time I had the doors open during spring cleaning
and then found myself with a chipmunk clinging to
my ceiling timbers ~ You ever try to get a chipmunk
OUT of the house when the whole inside is wood
and beams? lol
Our little corner of the universe is in the Endless Mountain Region of NE Pennsylvania. We seem to have settled in a
no-service cell phone area, and GPS doesn't know what to
do with all the dirt roads. It's kind of a nice place to come
home to! The nearest country market is six miles away,
and "real" civilization is about 20. Just a perfect spot if you
like this kind of setting.
We love the quiet and solitude of living back
in the trees, however we can head to NYC to see
family, and enjoy both worlds and way of life.
Somehow we would like to combine the morals and
values of Little House on the Prairie with the
technology and drive of Star Trek (wow! what a combination!haha) ~ And yes we are re-watching
those series with our kids now! Those two series
just happen to be both mine and my husband's
favorites. Go figure!
Thanks for reading my epinions; Feel free to
e-mail me with comments, questions or
suggestions. I do e-mail back ~ Thanks, Judy
