About JohnnySoftware
I grew up in the DC suburbs. I have brother who, like me, is in a technical field. My father has passed away and my mother is retired and has happily remarried. I am single and live in a two-story townhouse. I am a computer programming veteran now in my third decade of being in the field. For almost a decade, I have done most all of my professional work in Java. Now, however, I am very interested in Ruby, a language I taught myself in late 2005. My favorite types of fiction are science fiction and horror. I read very little fiction these days though. I read quite a bit for recreation from about age 7 through my early 30s. Gradually, it tapered off. I think in the last year I have read two or three novels. Most of the reading I do is non-fiction. Most of the news I read is on the web. Allergic to newsprint, I don't buy a newspaper very often. I read my local paper from time to time, to keep up with that is going on in the neighborhood. Almost all the non-fiction I read is computer books: computer languages, libraries, and tools - mostly. It has been so long since I used this site last, it looks like most of the URLs I listed in my profile are dead sites now. I have just taken care of that. It's a pleasant surprise to see the new look of this site and also the new features that have been introduced.
