About judy_lind
Hand me a really good book and I lose all sense of time/place. I love to read and can't remember when I couldn't read. I think I was born reading. Favorite authors: Jane Austen, Stephen King pre-1988, Jose Saramago (recently discovered and I plan to read every book he's ever written), Mary Renault (probably the best historical novelist in the English language), and Harper Lee, who got it so absolutely perfect the first time, she never wrote another book. Movies: a well-directed film with a good plot, good characterization and good acting does it for me. Great special effects do not add up to a great movie; George Lucas, please take notice.

I've been reviewing for Amazon.com for the past five years and have been in the ranks of the top 200 for four of them. It makes my day when I get an e-mail complimenting me on a review, and I get these from time to time. It's especially flattering when a writer asks me to review a recently published book. I try to acknowledge these requests, unless it's for something in a category I'm not interested in, in which case I will give a polite "Thanks but no thanks". I've been pleasantly surprised at receiving some really excellent books that I gave an enthusiastic review to. The downside is that once in a while I receive a book that is absolute dreck; but hey, that comes with the territory.

I'm happy to be a part of the Epinions community and look forward to posting many more reviews. Your opinion, pro or con, is most welcome.
