Are you really that interested? I would wager that you're more inclined to find out why I would consider myself qualified to rant on things in this medium...right? I'll let the ratings speak for themselves, but for anyone else who cares...
Better to not try and label me. Others have tried, and gotten labels returned to them in awkward locations. With a music collection ranging in the thousands of albums, and a willingness to listen to anything, once (as long as it's not top 40 pop/mainstream schlock), I can probably take two artists you love, and suggest three others you've never heard of, but will love just the same. Depending on l'activite du jour, my own music selections will range from classic rock, to trance, to contemporary folk, to reggae...so don't stand too close, you may get bonked in the head by a random disc change. As a result of this "shotgun-scatter" method of music appreciation, though, I enjoy drawing parallels between artists of different genres (say, comparing Radiohead's guitar-thin, analog-rich sound to that of early Autechre and Kid 606).
Go ahead, put down that highly combustible (and dangerous) Justin Timberlake album and back away...slowly...here's the latest Rufus Wainwright album, take it with a glass of chocolate milk and just sit still for a minute...careful...easy...eeeeasy...good.
Now go play nice with the other kids.
