Hi, I'm Tamy! Where to start??
OK, I'll start with my profile picture. This picture was taken from a hotel room with Mt. Fuji in the background. And yes, those are two teddy bears I am holding. Bento Bear (the white bear) and Bouncer Bear (the Panda bear) are my loyal travel companions and used to work with me in my old office, when I worked in an office. They go where ever I go!
In late 2002, I decided to resign from corporate America. Few months later, I started my own business, ChibiCo, with my jewelry design hobby and started selling my jewelry on eBay and Etsy.com. Not wanting to turn my hobby into a "job", I do not advertise and count on word-of-mouth to get new customers.
ChibiCo has been doing well over the years but the jewelry business is really only ever busy during a few times a year, Prom, Christmas, and Valentine's Day. During the slow times, when I am not coming up with a new jewelry design, I find myself either playing the piano for hours or surfing the net, while listening to music. During the summer, I visit my family in Japan for a couple of months whenever I can, usually every other year.
Earlier this year, I found myself visiting Facebook or playing on Yoville during my spare time when I was not playing the piano or working on jewelry. I thought to myself, "I am spending so much time on the computer, maybe I can do something more constructive than playing Yoville". Not that I don't want to play the piano all day, physically, I can't!
I started to look around on the net and research different things that I could be doing on the computer. I needed to be sure that it was something flexible, in the event that I receive an unforeseen, rush order for jewelry.
One day, I mentioned my quest to one of my friends. He asked me if I like to write. I told him I did enjoy writing, as long as it isn't writing a term paper. Had enough of those in my life!
That was the moment I found out about Epinions. My friend suggested that I take a look at writing reviews on Epinions. I joined and spent a few weeks looking around Epinions to get an idea of what review writing was all about. There are some awesome reviewers out there and I was a little intimidated at first. I finally got the guts to submit my first review. This is much more fun than writing business memos and documents!
I am glad I joined Epinions. I hope that I can help consumers out there who are looking for information on a product before they make a purchase. Epinions seems to have many fine people and I am looking forward to getting to know some new people.
