So you want to "know-about-me"?
I am a Christian, -don't mean to wear it on my sleeve, but if you want to know "about me" you have to know that I am a Christian. In the fall of 1988, I invited Jesus into my heart --and gave Him the "steering wheel" of my life. I believed Him when He said He carried my sins to the cross, and paid the penalty for my sin so that I could have a relationship restored with God (John 3:16). I have not become perfect, -truth is I sometimes try to grab the "steering wheel" back. But I have come to know God on a personal basis, and realize that He loves me like a son, and that He wants to teach me and correct me like a son. I would have to admit I am a pretty stupid son, -and I am amazed He takes so much time with me, --but never-the-less, I have really come to know that God is as real as the hands of Jesus.
Growing up, when I heard someone talk about "Jesus" -I would instantly think of a list of "rules and regulations" that I needed to follow. And, true, God has created the world with certain basic "rules" that bring order to life. But since studying, and praying through the Bible, I have come to also know an actual person named "Jesus". A Person who accepts me warts and all. A Person who knows me better than I know myself, --and has the power to lead me in a path of constructive change. Change that frees me from deep flaws of my heart, and bad habits, and recreates me from the inside out in accordance with His will. We can't do it without Him. In fact, life is just plain meaningless without Him. We were created for the very purpose of having a relationship with God.
I have brought many things to Jesus (hurts, mess ups, and joys), after all, life deals you a lot -doesn't it? If you will study the Bible you will learn that we live in a spiritual battle ground. It is Good vs. evil. But there is a finish line, and the Bible tells us the battle is already won by Jesus, we just need to pick whose side we are going to be on....
Another reason I believe in God is that I have had many answered prayers. My prayers have not always been answered the way I would like, -yet many of them have been answered just as I prayed!
I have really come to know that there is a living God. A God that wants me to know Him, and interact with Him. As I get to know Him, I find that my preconceived notions about Him get blown away...
The best opinion I can give is....Don't get sucked into religion... Call out to Jesus. Earnestly seek His face... when you mess up, seek Him.... when you are confused, seek Him... when you are hurt, seek Him.... Invite Him into your life. Ask Him to open your eyes. Read His Word the Bible. Let Him lead you, teach you, correct you, and MOST of all, LOVE YOU!
