I'm 54 but damn young at heart!!
Originally from White Plains, NY, I moved to Richmond, Virginia in late 1977, a year after college to try something new.
The NEW thing was moving to a new state without a job and to start looking for work when I got there. Ah! How nice it was back then to not have any REAL responsibility!!
I ended up getting an accounting job at a major Virginia bank. After being downsized from there after working there 17 years I got a better job working for a large technology company! It was one these 'be at the right place at the right time' deals!
I moved the family to Orlando in 1995 (or was it 1994--I'm old, I can't remember those things) because of work. After 8 years there we made a very tough decision to leave and move back to Richmond. I have a wife and three wonderful young children (twin 12 yr olds and a 15yr old).
It's great being back in Virginia again. It's great seeing old friends, again and being closer to family and having those changes in seasons again! There's a lot we miss from the Orlando area, though! We made some really good friends and our kids REALLY miss their old friends. Our kids were all born in Richmond but we moved to Florida when they were so young that they don't really remember Richmond, so it's been a tough adjustment!
We still miss our neighbors from Longwood Florida and I miss our large wonderful swimming pool!!!!
UGGGG!!! And to think we have to be tourists at Universal Studios and Sea World next time we visit rather than annual pass holders!!
