I'm a SAHM of three kids, I like to sew, read, write, and say funny things. The problem is, sometimes I say things that nobody else thinks are funny. And I laugh. And they don't. Which is okay when I'm around friends, but when I try to say something funny to a stranger, I get weird looks. Like last week, when I was in the hardware store looking for fishing sinks to use as weights in my son's pinewood derby car. I find a friendly helper. "Hi," I say. "Can you tell me where to find the fishing supplies?" He says, "They're in the aisle just behind you." Hearing this reply, I turn around and almost gouge my eye out on a fishing pole. I felt silly, because it should have been OBVIOUS where the fishing supplies were. And I said, "Oh. So the fishing poles sticking up are a good indication of where the fishing supplies are?" He just looks at me, like I'm being serious. I laugh to show I'm joking, but he just doesn't get it. You probably aren't laughing right now either, but that's okay because I can't see you.
