About Matt_Stein
Current musical kicks: The Beach Boys: No, not their early surf crap. Their forgotten post Pet Sounds work that alternates between utter brilliance and utter crap in a most fascinating way. Check out the 2-fer CDs of Sunflower/Surf's Up and 15 Big Ones/Love You to begin your initiation into the Endless Summer club. Deep Purple: It amazes me how these guys were lost in the shadow of bands with less talent (Black Sabbath) or bands who couldn't even write their own material for their first two albums (Led Zeppelin). Buy the 15 track The Very Best of Deep Purple for a good introduction into what I believe is right up there with the best of the 70's rock bands, and certainly among the most talented. Give me Blackmore and Paice over Paige and Bonham any day. Avril Lavigne: Shut up. Just shut up. STOP LAUGHING AT ME, DAMMIT!!!!! I knew I should've kept my mouth shut...
