About mckennatime
I live in the wilderness of the Washington outback on the Canadian border.............

I am a native of New Orleans, LA. Home to some of the friendliest people in the world.** Remember, if you go there: to go to someone's home and not eat, is considered rude. (It just isn't done.)

Everyone must eat, drink, and attend a parade, where you must catch beads and doubloons or a festival, where you are required by law, (I think) to dance in the street.

As a child, I thought everywhere was like this......everywhere is not.

I worked in the Building Trades for many years as a Millwright/Machinist/Welder. In 1974 I was a member of Local 720, AFL-CIO and served an apprenticeship for 4 years while attending trade school in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

A millwright installs and repairs industrial equipment, such as pumps, turbines, reactors, etc.

Working at many chemical and aluminum plants along the Mississippi River, I also welded and operated cranes, forklifts and other heavy equipment.

I attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge for 4 years (at night) and received a Machinist Certification from the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering.

Art:

I have enjoyed creating metal sculptures and used to have a stained glass business when I lived in Houston, Texas. Houston is the home town of more friendly people.

Books:

I love studying art history books and cosmology....Especially, Stephen Hawking. I want to go boldly Beyond The Big Picture, (a good book title?)

Writing:

I enjoy writing poetry and have some have been published.......

Hobby: The study of "Lost Civilizations" is of great interest to me. I have read as much as I could about this subject ever since I took Cultural Anthropology in college. Are you listening, Dr.Ramenofsky?

I get the "Discovery Civilization Channel," so I can watch Other People get hot and sweaty at archaeological digs!~~~~

Audio/Video:

I am currently trying to get my new Home Theater set up. So I am wearing out radioguy's reviews doing my research.

~~~~~~~ South Louisiana backround: My uncle from Bayou Fordoche, just published his first book. "The Trees of Raccourci," by Water Porche. That is the big news in our family right now.
~~~~~~

I love Cajun Cooking and highly recommend "River Road Recipes." Those ladies can tell you in one paragraph, what it takes Paul Prudhomme two chapters to say.

****Cajun Music Trivia: "Les Haricots," pronounced: "Zydeco," music derives it's name from the first French band in southern Louisiana to record and popularize "washboard" music, many years ago.....

My uncle Bud Guidroz heard them play in Opelousas, LA. He says the band's complete name is "Les Haricots- Pas Sale." Pronounced: "Zydeco - pah - sah - lay" and in English means "The Green Beans- No Salt."

My Family:

I just adopted two more kitty- mc nuggets from a rescue shelter, "Mikey Tabasco" an orange tabby kitten who is a fuzzy little bulldozer. And "Zsa Zsa Ballerina," grace in gray velvet with four little white ballerina slippers. Their big brother "Bayleafe" a Norwegian Forest cat, finally has someone to play with and teach how to climb up on the roof......

Wildlife Advocate:....

My goal is to try to love all animals,....

not just the cute ones.****

Please use only cruelty-free products.***
