I grew up in Minneapolis, daughter or a catholic polock and a hippie, growing up ... I used to pretend I was Stevie Nicks. I got my first job in radio when I was 23 for Capital Cities/ABC/KQRS and was fired for calling in sick all the time when I fell in love with a late model auto racer. I am a very musical person and I would ALWAYS rather listen to my CDs than watch TV, or read. I listen primarily to Blues, Classic Rock, Reggae, Country or Hip-Hop. (In that order), depending on the situation of course. My favorite bands are ... Big Head Todd & The Monsters, The Rolling Stones, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Corey Stevens, Bob Marley, Tom Petty and the Cars, Lynrd Skynrd, Led Zepplin, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, Elton John, ZZ Top, Motley Crue, Areosmith... OH LORDIE! I could go on and on with this one, oh and did I mention Johnny Lang and the Black Crowes, John Mellencamp and LENNON?..... I love all kinds, (Kid Rock and Eminem) and that is only SOME of my favs, My favorite country artists are Alan Jackson (in my top 5 - husband material), Brooks & Dunn, Travis Tritt and Tim McGraw (also in top 5). Who else? What about female artists? ...Erikah Badu is my fav AWESOME female artist, also Susan Tedeschi, Shania Twain, Faith Hill, Faith Evans, SHERYL CROW!!!... just to throw you ... Dido! and Mazzy Star! J-Lo, Foxy Brown, Missy Misdemeanor Elliot, Sade is my fav bathtime music, god! I love old school stuff too... like Al B Sure and Keith Sweat, Heavy D and the boys and Digital Underground, remember Eazy-E and Too Short? OK OK...enough on how much I love music.
I learned to live from John Lennon, growing up I heard my dad play "WATCHING THE WHEELS", and tons of John Cougar Mellencamp and Rolling Stones, Moody Blues and stuff ... I love all that ...my motto is (remember what my daddy used to say, he used to say..."Soul shine is better than sunshine, better than moonshine and damn sure better than the rain")... Values? OH.. Being honest and not trying to be someone you aren't ...are I think the most important things about a persons charachter, and "I can tell a fake from a mile away"... SERIOUSELY! Most of the time. I am a very spiritual person and OH! Youl'd never guess my favorite movie is "Almost Famous" I love Kate Hudson, and I am sure that if I met her we would be friends, she reminds me of myself and how cool is it that she married the lead singer of the Black Crowes?!!! Yeah... so say hi to her from Melissa "aka ... MARY JANE" from Minneapolis. Oh and -mail me if you know anyone who has the original song the "Do ya do ya do ya love me Mary Jane"... song. Cuz I love it and its got something to do with how I got that nickname, but thats another long story. Ha ha.
I feel like a space glutton taking all this space to talk all this stuff about me ...whoa.
I work as an account executive in the real estate biz, I have a great life and two awesome kids, my own townhouse and a handful of very good friends. The kids (Amanda and Dustin) well...you'ld never guess that by looking at me ... "aint that funny"? I really do think I would be happiest doing something in the music biz again and I certainly do have some pipes, I can sing, but I dont think I want to be a rock star. I dont know, dont get me wrong I love my job, but I just feel a little bit like man bait at work, a little bit like I was hired to schooze the male dominated real estate brokerage community. It IS fun though, I have fun at work and I can office from home - which is a HUGE perk, I am meeting all kinds of "husband materials" and making alot of new friends, did I mention I am being compensated in a PHAT way too?!! Not bad for a round the way girl I dont think.
What else? I think I have a relationship issue, cuz I leave my boyfriends (but not ALWAYS right away - one was 7 years (kids father) and the other 5 years - DAMN !!! Thats 12 years of my only 27 year old life. I just dont know. Eventually I hope I'll get married hopefully I'll "marry someone GRAND" right? ... I must be stoned, this is way too long and too much info. BUT IT SAID!!!! (100,000 words!)uh oh... whoops! charachters... Hell no.
