About mickp

Update '07 - Well, who'da thunk it seven years ago when I first hit Epinions? No longer am I in my beloved Perth, Western Australia, but married to Liffey and spending my days waiting for my Green Card and writing epinions. That's when im not out cashing in on all the freebies Vegas locals enjoy, such as insane discounts on Mexican food and buffets at the Excellent Station Casinos or heading to California to escape the searing desert heat and enjoy a few days at Disneyland in Anaheim with our beloved premium annual passes. I recently completed a degree in Journalism (with distinction) at Curtin University of Technology. Despite this, my first review back made me feel like I had forgotten how to write, so time to brush off those cobwebs!

I am a ... ugh, now 34 Year old movie and gaming (both computer gaming and "gaming" the marketable term for casino gambling) fanatic. I'm also a trained journalist. I enjoy reading (although my girlfriend wife will scoff at this until I actually start reading more than 2 pages of a book per day), fiddling with my camera, sport (especially cricket - Oh how I miss that and suffer from it's abscence on US TV.) and have become a fully fledged Usenet nerd. When I can drag myself away from "That Internet" as my family calls it, I can often be found fishing down at the beach, although I do not eat fish and I usually return all my fish to the water to fight another day.

Computer and Video Games have been a passion of mine since I was knee high to a grasshopper! Being in my late twenties, I am in that age bracket where I have been around since the birth of computer gaming as we know it (Pong machines!) and have been a steady follower of different systems and formats over the intervening years. I have many a tale to tell about some of my favourite games!

I don't watch an awful lot of television, but I am king of the local cinema and can often be found at a late session of the latest flick. When it comes to movies, I consider myself something of an anti-critic. Come on, how many movies have received critical acclaim over the years, when you found them to be dreadfully tedious and dull. When I watch a film all I want is to have a good time and this is reflected in my movie Epinions. If entertainment can be accomplished with a bunch of cliche's and low grade humour then that is just as valid in my view as thought-provoking, original material. Anyone who ever liked Hudson Hawk or Armageddon, but thought Traffic and The English Patient were pretentious and tedious loads of bollocks, step right this way, you are among friends here.

A few people I know in real life write here on Epinions.

Liffey - My Wife doesn't write anymore, but what she has is well worth a look.

Candybomb - Otherwise known as my sister Emma, tried it out for a while, but eventually moved on to bigger things in her field.

Trouto - My good friend Jamie - swing by his Epinions if you get the chance too. :)
