About Mommysan

OK, here's my "official" bio - I am a Certified Public School Educator who has worked with students in grades Kindergarten through seniors in high school. I have been working in the Missouri public school system since 1989. My undergraduate studies include English, Library & Media Sciences (not as boring as it sounds), and Secondary Education. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education, with Master’s work in the area of Educational Administration. Away from public education, I have been successful in my own consulting business, and have been actively involved in the training and support of small business entrepreneurs. Since 1995, I have been recognized both locally and nationally as a top trainer and motivator for schools, community organizations, small businesses, and nationally recognized companies. *Whew!* Now, with that said...
As a former high school teacher of 10 years, I learned first to LOVE teenagers (no matter how wacky they may seem to be) and second to never stop staying sharp! Now that I'm the mother of a beautiful baby girl, I'm glad I had all that experience to hopefully prepare me for the exciting years ahead. (After all, that expensive education and business sense means nothing if you can't get your teenage daughter off the phone at night and out of the bathroom on time in the mornings, right?)
Anyway, two years ago, I took off my professional eductor's hat to join a friend in a dream business venture. We formed a unique partnership called Joy Works! It's a consulting business which conducts professional development seminars for teachers and business executives.
Truthfully, it's the perfect job for me. It capitalizes on the two things I'm really good at...being happy and talking! (My claim to fame is that I'm "irritatingly perky!") No joke, I am a very optimistic person who enjoys motivating other people to overcome challenges and enjoy life.
As far as my opinions go, I certainly plan on spending most of my time writing about the things I love rather than the things I hate. You know that rule in word-of-mouth advertising...if they love it you'll never hear about it; if they hate it you'll never stop hearing about it. Well I want people to know what really works, what's fun, and what's worth paying for. That doesn't mean I'll never write a negative opinion, just don't hold it against me if I do manage to eke out at least one good thing to say about the things I "hate". (Did I mention that I'm so positive it's almost sickening? :) Enjoy!
