I enlisted in the United States Navy in May of 1995 under the Delayed Entry Program (DEP) as a Fire Control Technician (FT).
I completed Boot Camp in Great Lakes, Illinois.
I completed Basic Enlisted Submarine School (BESS), Damage Control Training, Fire Fighting Training and Underwater Fire Control Technician 'A' School in Groton, Connecticut.
I completed Underwater Fire Control Technician 'C' School for the Mk 118 Mod. 2, Ohio Class Submarine Fire Control System, in Kings Bay, Georgia.
I received orders to the USS Maryland (SSBN-738) Gold Crew, but was never transferred to the ship due to being accepted to attend the Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS), Class of 1998, in Newport Rhode, Island.
I completed NAPS and was appointed as a Midshipman to the United States Naval Academy (USNA), Class of 2002, in Annapolis Maryland. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering.
Upon graduation I received Temporary Additional Duty (TAD) orders to stay at USNA and help teach Seamanship and Navigation for the summer.
After the summer I transferred to Surface Warfare Officer School (SWOS) for Division Officers in Newport, Rhode Island. I completed SWOS and Antisubmarine Warfare Officer (ASWO) Course.
I received orders to the USS Valley Forge (CG-50), home ported in San Diego, California. Once arriving in San Diego I was TAD to Antisubmarine Warfare Evaluator (ASWE) Course, PC-IMAT Course, and Fleet Recreation Management Course. I joined my ship 02 June 2003 upon their return from deployment. I was assigned as the Antisubmarine Warfare Officer (ASWO) and the Recreation Services Officer (MWR Officer). While attached to the Valley Forge I completed the Marine Safety International Navy Bridge Resource Management Course, Center for Naval Leadership's Division Officer Leadership Course, and the Coordinated Antisubmarine Warfare Operations Course. I made a Counter Narcotics Deployment, earned my Officer of the Deck Qualification, my designation as a Surface Warfare Officer and was one of the Decommissioning Officers of the USS Valley Forge. I was awarded two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals during my tour onboard the USS Valley Forge.
After the USS Valley Forge Decommissioned I transferred to Goose Creek, South Carolina to attend Naval Nuclear Power Training Command. I graduated with the Officer Class of 0502 and transferred to Nuclear Power Training Unit.
Upon completing six months of intensive hands on training in the operation, maintenance, and supervision of Naval Nuclear Propulsion Plants I received orders and transferred to the USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74), home ported in Bremerton, Washington. Once arriving in Bremerton I was TAD to Shipboard Aircraft Fire Fighting. I reported aboard the Stennis upon their return to port on 14 February 2006. I was assigned to Reactor Training Division in Reactor Department for my qualifications. While attached to the Stennis I completed Fremont Maritime Service's four day Advanced Fire Fighting Course.
