Greetings, epinion people. I'm Graham (aka The G'man; aka Griz[mond]; aka 9lives).
I'm an eighties kid at heart, really. Although my roots are in pop music (a-ha, Duran Duran), I turned to rock in 1986/7. Over the years my tastes have progressed from hard rock like Def Leppard, Aerosmith and Guns N Roses, to metal bands like Metallica and Megadeth, to staple nineties bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam, and to more alternative sounds like Terrorvision, Therapy and the Dave Matthews Band.
Although music is my main passion, I'm also a big fan of cinema having worked in a video store for six years, and although I like less populist work like "Fargo", "Glengary Glen Ross" and "Naked", I also like nothing better than a bit of celluloid fun - "Terminator 2", "The Last Boyscout", "Con Air" and stuff like that.
I was born in 1973 in Dublin, Ireland - that makes me, uh, 30 this year - and have one younger brother. I finished school in 1991 and after a few years flitting around doing this and that, I finally got around to achieving a Degree in Management Information Systems in 1998.
Since then I've worked for Allied Irish Banks in Dublin as a Database Administrator. I took a year out recently to travel New Zealand but I'm back home now, and have returned to my job.
I do tend to be quite critical. I think a lot of ratings are artificially high on the site. Some people are giving four and five star ratings to items that are just not that good.
The way I would break down the five-star ratings would be as follows:
5 Stars - Classic - owning it should be compulsory
4 Stars - Excellent - a must-buy
3 Stars - Quite Good - worth buying
2 Stars - Below Average - definitely buy with caution
1 Star - Avoid - pointless garbage
